How to Use This Calculator

1

Measure Project Area

Measure length and width of the area to be covered with plywood in feet. For walls, measure height and length. Calculate total square footage (length × width).

2

Select Sheet Size

Choose plywood sheet size (typically 4' × 8' = 32 sq ft). Consider using larger sheets for big projects to reduce waste and seams, but factor in handling difficulty.

3

Calculate Sheet Count

Divide total square footage by sheet size (32 sq ft for standard sheets). Add 10-15% for waste from cuts, mistakes, and damaged sheets. Round up to nearest whole sheet.

4

Plan Layout and Purchase

Sketch sheet layout to minimize waste and cuts. Arrange sheets to stagger seams. Order calculated quantity plus a couple extra sheets. Don't forget appropriate nails/screws and construction adhesive.
